Tips to Positivity

Every day has something positive in it.  Some days you just have to search a bit harder. Here are a few things you can work on to bring positivity and happiness into your life.

With this being said, there is always something to be thankful for.  Keep a daily journal of something specific that you are grateful for.  Studies have shown that expressing gratitude boosts positive emotions as well as an overall feeling of satisfaction.  To learn more about how gratitude really works, read on.

Research also shows that music activates the part of your brain that relaxes and makes you feel good.  Put on some happy music!  It’s good for your mind and your soul!

Partake in an act of kindness every day. This also boosts happiness, reduces depression, and can even help you live longer.  Remember the old saying, it’s better to give than to receive?  This helps prove it as true!

When you find yourself having negative thoughts on a subject or something you happen to be thinking about, challenge yourself to rethink.  Is there another more positive way you could view this?” When you find some optimism in the subject, it is actually very good for your health and well-being.

A super simple way to boost your mood is to just smile. It’s funny that something so easy can definitely help you feel happier. A smile is also a GREAT thing to share!  It will brighten someone else’s day as well.

Do you have a hobby?  Do something that excites you.   Sign up for a class to learn something new or better yet, volunteer and give back to an organization that you are passionate about. People who feel a sense of meaning in their lives are healthier, have greater satisfaction, and may actually live longer.

Meditation is even small amounts has been shown to improve your mood, decrease stress, and improve sleep. Regular meditation can make you experience overall calmness, a greater
self-awareness and have better mental focus.

Bad news and stress in your life don’t have to ruin your day. You have a choice about where you focus your attention and how you choose to respond to any situation. Try incorporating these tips into your life and I’m confident you’ll see how the positives outweigh the negatives.
